Beaten
This ‘Prime Time Investigates’ looks at the alarming extent to which Irish women are subjected to violence at the hands of their partners.
Narrated by journalist, Susan McKay, Beaten, examines the culture of silence, which continues to prevail around this subject.
In their own words, women describe how they end up being patched up in A&E wards, are forced to take sanctuary in refuges, and discuss how the system often fails to protect them, when they are at their most vulnerable.
It also looks at the effect of domestic violence on children, and talks to families who have watched as their daughters have been abused, beaten and sometimes even murdered, by the man they once loved.
